Puzzle nerds, rejoice because veteran Picross makers Jupiter Corporation have finally released a Picross game for PC. Logiart Grimoire, released last week, is a cute little narrative picross game about a spell book that someone messed up with fake spells. Now you and your strange buddy Emil have to unravel it by solving Picross puzzles.
The only downside here is that you might have wished for a proper Picross main game from Jupiter, but beggars can't choose.
Picross, which Jupiter describes as a “picture logic puzzle,” is a puzzle genre where you use numerical clues to solve a visual puzzle: numbers tell you how many cells are filled in each row or column, and you use logic to to find out which cells they are. They're simple, easy-to-understand puzzle rules for pretty entertaining puzzles.
Logiart Grimoire features a fairly large stack of puzzle types, which are unlocked as you progress through the game by combining materials gained from solving previous puzzles. There are a total of 280 puzzles in sizes 5×5, 10×10, 15×15, 20×15, 30×30 and 40×30.
Jupiter is one of the best Picross game makers of all time, if not the best. They started with Tamori Picross and Mario's Super Picross on the NES, but are perhaps best known for their Picross E and Picross S series on Nintendo 3DS and Switch respectively, which are nine game series each.
You can find Logiart Grimoire on Steam for $20.
