As announced last year, a collaboration between D&D and LEGO is in the works for the TTRPG's 50th anniversary – including a LEGO Ideas set (formerly called Dragon Keep: Journey's End, now A Red Dragon's Tale) created by a fan designer was designed with the name Lucas Bolt.
The set will be a whopping 3,745 pieces and will include six unique minifigures and some brick monsters: a displacer, a beholder, some myconids, a mimic, and what looks like a gelatinous cube, ah, judging by this trailer, something less good than the promo that was suggested, but the rest of the cast here is pretty darn cute.
I'm particularly a fan of the owlbear. He's about to give this adventurer a makeover, but look at him.

Additionally, the set will also include its own custom D&D adventure, available to download for free LEGO Insiders, which as far as I know only requires a free account. However, the adventure will also appear on D&D Beyond along with the character sheets for the minis included in the set. There will also be a paperback version, but only for 2,700 “Insider Points,” which you get from purchasing other LEGO products.
The Red Dragon's Tale itself will be available through the for $360 Online shop April 1st (April 4th if you're not a Lego insider) – which is a lot more expensive than most D&D miniature card sets. Dwarven forgeFor example, there are fully painted terrain sets for around $124-$198, depending on how fancy you want them. Still, this is a novelty for a big-name crossover – and the fan designer gets a small portion of the proceeds.
Speaking of which, Lucas Bolt will also be taking part in one One-shot streamed live April 6, along with LEGO designer Jordan Scott and several D&D guest stars. It is streaming on both the LEGO website and D&Ds Youtube And Twitch channeland here's a full rundown of the star-studded cast:
- Anjali Bhimani, who starred in Critical Role's UndeadWood, Exandria Unlimited and Candela Obscura as well as Dimension 20's The Ravening War.
- Luis Carazo, who starred in Critical Roles' Exandria Unlimited, Candela Obscura and Geek & Sundry's LA by Night.
- Ginny Dia popular D&D YouTuber and cosplayer with a killer jester impression.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't more excited to see these people on the digital screen together – Luis Carazo absolutely killed it as Zerxus in Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, and I have the videos of Ginny You've been following me for a while. Then again, I'm just not a huge LEGO fan, and for the people who deal with the Venn diagram intersection of TTRPG lovers and brick-and-mortar connoisseurs, April is going to be a really good month.
