The Apex Legends Global Series is currently in regional finals mode, but the North American finals have been postponed after two players were hacked mid-match. First, DarkZero's Noyan “Genburten” Ozkose was suddenly able to see other players through walls, then TSM's Phillip “ImperialHal” Doses got an aimbot.
Genburten's attack occurred in the middle of the third game of the day. A Twitch clip of the moment shows the words “Apex hacking global series by Destroyer2009 & R4ndom” repeating in the chat as he realizes he's been scammed and takes his hands off the controls. “I can see everyone!” he says before leaving the game.
Immediately afterwards, ImperialHal was hacked into the game. “I just got aimbot!” he shouts in a Clip of the momentbefore declaring, “I can't shoot.” Although he continued to try to finish the round, the game was later abandoned.
The Anti-Cheat Police Department volunteers have been doing it ever since a PPE issued announces: “An RCE exploit is currently being abused [Apex Legends]“And that it could be delivered through the game itself or its anti-cheat protection. “I would advise against playing games protected by EAC or EA titles,” they continued.
As for the players of the tournament, they highly recommended Take protective measures. “It is advisable that you change your Discord passwords and ensure that your emails are secure. Also, enable MFA for all your accounts if you haven't already,” they said, “perform an operating system reinstall as soon as possible. “Don’t do this.” If you don’t take risks with your personal information, your PC may have been exposed to a rootkit or other malware that could cause further harm.”
The rest of the series has now been postponed “because the competitive integrity of this series is at risk,” as the official Twitter account announced. They concluded: “We will share more information soon.”
