Now, 13 years after Eidos-Montréal canceled its 2011 Deus Ex reboot Human Revolution, my appreciation for how good this immersive cyberpunk simulation is remains undiminished with each passing year, and I'm sure this too was the case with countless other PC gamers around the world.
With Human Revolution, Eidos-Montréal decided to operate in the same world as the legendary original Deus Ex, and did so despite the fact that the last game in the Deus Ex series, Invisible War, was criticized by many critics and sold poorly ( quite unfair in my opinion). ). The Deus Ex series was on the decline. The fact that PC Gamer gave Human Revolution a staggeringly high 94% in its review showed what an incredible job the developers have done.
Watch Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director's Cut on GOG
Having recently replayed Human Revolution and its sequel Mankind Divided – playthroughs that were sadly inspired by the news that the highly anticipated third game in the series is now officially DOA – I can confirm that it continues is a joy to play.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution later received a Director's Cut (in my opinion the definitive version, fixing almost every little mistake in the original), and this version is now available on GOG with a huge 85% discount. This means you can currently buy the game and its sequel for less than a cup of coffee. The details can be found below.
If you already have Human Revolution in your games library or just want to double your Deus Ex fun, then Human Revolution's sequel, Mankind Divided, is also available on GOG, with the same whopping 85% discount. The sequel arguably offers a slightly less memorable story, but takes the immersive simulation potential to an even higher level, with detailed environments that allow for creative solutions to most missions. There are also new expansions and weapons on offer.
As both games play today, my computer (Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti, 32 GB RAM DDR4, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, ASRock B450M Pro4) runs flawlessly with buttery-smooth frame rates. But while they're still great, they're older titles, and any PC gamer with half-decent gear should be able to run these games without issue.
In my opinion, both games are absolute must-haves for fans of immersive simulations, which is backed up by this Director's Cut version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution with over 22,500 “very positive reviews from players on Steam”. This is a release that has hit PC gamers hard and continues to do so.
