Co-op survival RPG Enshrouded has received a number of hotfixes since it launched into Early Access in January, but today the first really big patch arrived. It brings a number of stability and performance fixes, as well as some crafting and skill optimizations, but also introduces a few fun exploits that players have been using to more easily navigate the massive open world.
Did you like the bunny hops that didn't drain your stamina? Sorry Flameborn, that's been fixed. Have you used your bed to effortlessly float around the world? “Dreams shouldn’t be so powerful,” says Keen Games in Veiled patch notes.
And what's bad news for wizards and mages around the world is that another nerf reduces the Water Aura skill by a few points. This skill regenerated one point of health per second for the player (and all nearby co-op players) for each point of Intelligence the player had. It basically meant that with the right intelligence-based build, you could easily heal pretty much anything that would damage you, as one streamer found out intentionally standing in a spike trap: When each spike appeared, the last one's damage had already been healed. After the nerf, Water Aura is still a worthwhile skill, but it no longer grants you a Wolverine-level healing buff.
However, these aren't just fun-killing exploit fixes (and it looks like Enshrouded's ridiculously OP acid bite spell is still intact). Smelters will be pleased to know that the cost of tin ingots has been reduced quite dramatically – originally, a single tin ingot cost 20 tin ore to produce, a terrible return on all mining. Now you can forge 3 tin ingots from 15 ore, which feels much cheaper. The bug that prevented the Arithmetic recipe from appearing at your workbench has also been fixed, and magic storage containers (which allow you to craft items without them being in your personal inventory) can now be unlocked earlier in the crafting chain.
No word yet on fans' biggest wish to make Enshrouded's quest progression player-based and not tied to the server they're on, but that's a much more complex change than tweaking a few numbers or committing a few silly feats suppress.
