Tennessee Tree Day 2024: How to join

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Tennessee Tree Day is scheduled for March 16th. This annual community tree planting project aims to maintain a healthy tree canopy throughout the state.

To encourage people across the state to get involved, the Tennessee Environmental Council is making seedlings available for next to nothing. Through March 4, people can go online and reserve seedlings to plant on their property.

Seedlings start at $1.99 each. Available trees include bald cypress, black cherry, eastern redbud, cherrybark oak, white oak, willow oak, pecan, river birch, shortleaf pine and tulip poplar. The seedlings grow between 1 and 4 feet tall, depending on the species.

There are thousands of seedlings available and more than 100 pick-up locations across the state. The seedling must be reserved by March 4th and then picked up on March 16th. In case of extreme weather, trees will be available for pickup on March 23rd. To find out more or to order a seedling, Click here.
